Dermal fillers are a class of injectable cosmetics provided by Derma-Tech Medical Spa. Their purpose is to enhance the contours of the face and reduce the appearance of age, fine lines, and wrinkles.

The primary difference between Restylane and Sculptra is the compound used to create the filler. Restylane uses naturally-derived hyaluronic acid – a substance made by the body and results are immediately noticeable. By contrast, Sculptra is a poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA)-based treatment with results that develop gradually over time.

About Sculptra

Sculptra Aesthetic stimulates your skin’s own natural collagen production to increase overall facial volume. The PLLA microparticles are absorbed by the skin, creating a framework that helps restore facial volume and supports your skin’s inner structure for a more youthful-looking appearance.

It works subtly and gradually over time. In the major clinical study of Sculptra Aesthetic, patients were still showing improvement 25 months after the last injection.

About Restylane

Restylane is the brand name for a family of dermal fillers designed to enhance the face’s appearance. Products address several areas, including the prominence of nasolabial folds (lines around the nose), thinning lips, and deep wrinkles. Restylane works by injecting natural hyaluronic-based fillers under the skin in a way that shapes the surrounding tissue attractively.

Importantly, Restylane doesn’t require any allergy testing since hyaluronic acid is chemically identical to that which naturally occurs in the body.

Differences Between Sculptra and Restylane

Sculptra and Restylane fundamentally rely on different technologies. Restylane is hyaluronic acid-based and typically generates instant results that last around a year. By contrast, Sculptra relies on a poly-L-lactic acid microparticles, which are absorbed by the skin, in turn stimulating collagen production for results lasting up to two years. Clinical aestheticians inject both types of fillers just below the skin.

The results of Restylane are immediately apparent and visible. Sculptra effects may not be evident for about 3 months. Patients often choose Sculptra when they want their rejuvenation to take place subtly over time instead of during a single session.

Similarities Between Sculptra and Restylane

The team at Derma-Tech Medical Spa uses Restylane and Sculptra dermal fillers to target wrinkles around the mouth and nose and add volume to the cheeks. Both types of dermal fillers are highly effective in this regard.

The fillers are also similar in the sense that they are both injectables that plump spaces under the skin. The experience in the clinic, therefore, is very similar from the point of view of the patient.
